This couple of Purple Crowned Fairy-wrens are lifelong partners, unlike their relatives who travel long and far to show off their colourful plumage. Native to Australia, these exotic birds are known to be quite tame, although this particular species aren't easy to spot. Although technically purple, I painted these with just two colours, brown and blue, to accentuate their delicate forms whilst maintaining visual simplicity.
