Birdsong began in Spring 2014 with a Goldcrest sitting in the trees outside my kitchen - luckily on the second floor. I had never seen this tiny bird so close up before. I was inspired to paint it, capturing the fleeting gestures with the minimal amount of brush strokes possible. Birds opened me up to the possibilities that watercolour can present.
As I moved countries, birds became a symbol of internal freedom, transition and new life. Over the years I created a collection of birds from all over the world, that are available in signed and numbered limited edition prints, as well as some originals.
